This piece is a wheel thrown bowl with underglaze and overglaze applied after a bisque firing. The glaze did not turn out like I had expected, as it was meant to be a bright pink, but the overglaze was colored instead of clear. I tried to use the elements of balance and unity, to create a sense of whole. In addition, I used the square shape to create symmetry along the diagonals of the pot. This piece shows that even mistakes can be something beautiful. The problem with the glaze, even though it changed the end result, created an interesting effect that would not have happened otherwise. I really like this piece, especially because it is original and I have not experimented with altering thrown forms much. I also like the way the pink glaze is peeking through the overglaze.
